Diane Firth – Artist

I have always been fascinated by the human figure, particularly the face and have focused on the challenge of representing people either in paintings, drawings, photography or digital work. I studied for a degree in art at Chelsea College of Art and then for an MA in Fine Art at Chichester University. I now concentrate on painting and drawing portraits.  Find me on instagram (dianefirtharts) or facebook.

My Captain Tom 100 challenge was to do something 100 times to bring joy and raise funds for charities. I have recently completed 100 A5 graphite drawings of past and present members of the UK armed forces – you can see them in a gallery within ‘Drawings’. In return I asked for a small donation to the Imperial War Museum via https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/diane-firth2

Exhibitions have included: Robinson College Cambridge, Open Portrait Exhibition – RBSA Gallery Birmingham, The Essex Open, Beecroft Gallery, Southend; Haslemere

Museum, Surrey; Otter Gallery, Chichester; ZiZi Gallery, London; Chelsea College of Art, London; Candid Arts Trust, London and Markovitch Gallery, London. I’m a member of the Cambridge Drawing Society and the Society of Chrishall Artists.

I take private commissions, so if you are interested in finding out more then please get in touch to talk about what you would like. Just email diane@smilingspider.co.uk.
